What are Shinkin Banks?

Shinkin banks were created by order for Enforcement of Shinkin Bank Law in June 1951 as cooperative financial institutions to serve the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises and local residents.

They are cooperative organizations based on the philosophy of mutual support, and the basis of their operation is formed by responding to the needs of members, users and local regions.

And their functions are almost the same as those of commercial banks based on publicity, their functions are almost the same as those of commercial banks, and they also deal with many people who are not members, accepting deposits, providing exchange services, accepting various payments including those for public utilities, and engaging in over-the-counter sales of public bonds, investment trusts, and insurance.
